"When Alex suggested flying a Photographer out to our Cyprus Wedding... I laughed. It was a theme that would extend throughout the 3 days David was with us. It ended up being the single best investment we made for the day. David captured exactly what we were looking for and his enthusiasm for finding the right locations even rubbed off on me! The final photos are phenomenal and all we can say to you is... Thanks for the memories.”
Stevie & Alex
Alex and Stevie’s destination wedding Cyprus was definitely one to remember. When I first received an enquiry from Alex to photograph her wedding I already had a booking for the date that they were looking at, so I was so very honoured when they went about changing their date so that I could photograph their celebrations.
The couple currently live in Ireland but had decided to go back to Alex’s roots where she grew up in the mountains of Cyprus. The plans were therefore based around a traditional Cypriot wedding in Alex’s parents local village, Arsos. I arrived into Cyprus two days before the wedding and then met with Alex and Stevie the day before so that we could have a recce of Arsos and its surrounding landscape where the celebrations were due to take place. To ensure we made the most of the day we combined the recce with a little pre-wedding shoot to relax the couple into being in front of the camera.
On the day of the wedding I was with the beautiful bride for preparations ready for the “first look” at 2pm. I then spent time with the soon to be Mr & Mrs Davey, driving through the mountains and my goodness did we find some beautiful locations. I think you will definitely agree that this bride and groom looked incredible and the time before the ceremony allowed us to create something unique to them.
Traditional Cypriot preparations were in full swing when the bride and groom separated ready to then meet again at The Taverna in Arsos where their traditional ceremony was taking place, a stunning Church in the middle of Arsos. I hope the images portray just how intimate and emphatic the set up was - set in the middle of the Village with trestle tables outside the restaurants in the square - grape vines lining the archways and locals peering out the stone building windows with singing and dancing galore until the early hours. The atmosphere was simply magical.
Still reeling from an amazing day the newly-weds had arranged for a beach party at The Crown Plaza with drinks, beach games and jet skis and drinking and dancing continued. To be a part of this wedding was such a privilege and I was made to feel so welcome throughout the whole three days. Alex and Stevie - thank you. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your special day and putting your trust in me.
