Photography is not just my work, it is my passion; I can’t help but see the world around me in a picture frame. For me, this is truly the magic of photography – capturing figures, objects and landscapes in a passing moment, and presenting it within a single image, creating moments and memories to look back on for years to come.
My relationship with the camera started early, learning from my father’s love of being behind the lens. My enthusiasm led me to develop my skills further, studying both the capture and dark-room aspects of film photography. Taking the time to learn these skills gave me a valuable technical understanding, which continues to bring confidence to my work even now. In the years that followed, I was lucky to be able to indulge my love of the great outdoors and travel, developing my skills and honing my landscape photography in all corners of the globe. Along the way, I took endless portraits of the people I met and the cultures I witnessed.
Whilst travelling I appreciated that opportunities to capture portraits can be lost in the blink of an eye; these moments cannot be recreated or missed. I believe that the best portraits draw not only on skills and techniques that have been developed over many years, but also depend on an intuition that puts you in the right place at the right time. I quickly realised seizing the moment is a natural thing for me, and is something I bring into my wedding and portraiture photography. It allows me to capture events in a natural, unobtrusive manner, telling real stories as they unfold.
Today, I delight in bringing together my twin interests of landscape photography and portraiture for each album, creating images from the epic to the intimate, to beautifully capture the special moments of your day. Over the years I have been truly honoured to receive industry and peer-judged awards; I achieved the highest qualification in social photography, and have also been recognised as one of the leading wedding photographers, by such prestigious bodies as the British Institute of Professional Photographers in the UK, and worldwide by the FEP (Federation of European Photographers). But for me, the real thrill comes from that moment of revealing the finished images to a couple and seeing their excitement and their faces light up – that honestly is the greatest reward. It genuinely never stops being an honour and a privilege to be involved in each and every wedding. Each couple, each wedding is unique, and I truly count myself lucky to be able to capture such happy occasions, each one inspiring me in a new and different way.
